Good Morning-
I'm looking at building a wireless sensor array of up to like 12 sensors for my chicken houses.
It seems like 433mhz is the way to go as far as frequency goes for distance.
The sensors will be placed thru out a 50x500 building.
I'm looking at the RFM69HW-433 Mini-Wireless for them.
For like the Base station I'm going to use a Raspberry Pi to collect the data and display it.
I was just wondering if for the base station if like a RFM96W-433S2 be used for the higher transmitter and receiving capabilities ??

Thankz
Have A Great Day
Jeff

I suggest using the same radio for all nodes.
Are the remotes to be battery powered? This is a key decision item.

An Anarduino mini-wireless can interface/bridge the wireless network to a PC via the mini-wireless' serial port.
You'll need to write the bridging software and the PC software using the PC's serial port.
Or the serial port on a RPi. And perhaps use Python on the RPi.
I've done the above for use with moving sensors.

No, they will have a power supply to them.

Yes was going to interconnect the rPi to the wireless thru the serial port.

Was thinking of just setting up each mini-wireless as a different node.
Then stepping thru the nodes on the rPi requesting like a data packet full of the various
sensor reading attached to the mini-wireless's. So for the rPi's I just need a basic rx/tx device.

that's a polling scheme rather than having the sensors report "by exception", such as

> x amount of time since last report
sensed parameter changed by more than x percent
