Hi,
What settings should I use in the Arduino IDE to program the MW?

Specifically under Tools > Board > ..
and under Tools > Processor > .. (if this one becomes an option for the board type selected)

I can upload the code with a few different options set, but it hangs when it tries to send a packet using the radio.send((byte)GATEWAY_ID, (const void *)&msgBuf[0], (byte)sizeof(msgBuf), requestACK);
in the Tnode example.

If the AVR code hangs in send (transmit), it's often because the interrupt (IRQ) wire from the radio to the AVR is not wired or the IRQ bit isn't declared correctly in the class constructor. But the software defaults should be OK.

Unless they've been changed recently (my boards are about a year old) the Mini Wireless boards come with the Diecimila/Duemilanove boot loader. Picking "Arduino Duemilanove w/ ATmega328" works for me. Steve C. posted a very useful first time sketch built on top of the RadioHead library. You can load the same sketch on two boards and it will automatically flip the addresses so they can talk to each other. I can't seem to currently find it online, Steve can probably help.

try this download
two programs.
I haven't tried to build using the new Arduino IDE.

Perhaps the .hex is in the debug folder, ready to use.

Found it, the one I was thinking of is the 3May2014-2 version at the bottom of #7 in https://forum.pjrc.com/threads/25587-RF22-wireless-library-replaced-with-quot-RadioHead-quot-lib-For-RFM69-RFM22-Si4432-wireless?p=46412#post46412. It still works using IDE 1.6.3 on Linux, haven't tried it on 1.0.6.
